Lulworth and nearby villages

Lulworth is made up of two picturesque villages, East and West Lulworth, it’s part of the Jurassic coast and is home to some of the most spectacular landmarks.

West Lulworth village has a pretty millpond, which is the remain of an old watermill and a tiny Dolls House building which is now a cafe and shop. Its also home to Lulworth Cove, it’s a perfect round bay and is one of Dorset’s most well-known landmarks. Lulworth is highly popular with visitors of all ages due to the unspoilt beaches, fantastic walks and many geological interests. Durdle Door and the Man O’ War beach are also located just a short walk/drive from Lulworth.

Lulworth Castle with its beautiful grounds and chapel are located in East Lulworth. The Castle is home to the iconic Bestival festival in August and attracts visitors from all over to enjoy the music and fun activities.

There are many brilliant things to do near Lulworth including visiting the deserted village of Tyneham. The Tank Museum and Monkey world are located in the village of Bovington, they are great days out whatever the weather and whatever your age!

Monkey World

Enjoy a fun-filled and fascinating day out at Monkey World Ape and Rescue Centre near Wool. The 65 acre park provides a sanctuary for rescued and endangered primates from around the world. You can spend hours watching the monkeys and apes interact and let the children burn some energy in the Great Ape Adventure Play Area.

The Tank Museum

The Tank Museum is based at Bovington and literally bring history to life! It’s one of the world’s best collection of tanks and explosive live shows. The exhibitions tell a story of warfare spanning over 100 years. With over 300 armoured vehicles the unique collection includes the worlds first ever tank, Little Willie, as well as the feared German Tiger tank and the modern Challenger 2.

Tyneham

Why not visit a village which is frozen in time? Tyneham is a small village based in Worbarrow, it has been deserted for over 60 years. The village had its own church, school, rectory, several farms and lots of cottages. It’s most prominent building was the grand mansion house called Tyneham House. Visit the village and see why the village is deserted.

Lulworth Castle

Lulworth Castle and Park is a must seen for your stay in Dorset. Lulworth castle has amazing grounds, extensive parkland and peaceful woodland walks, there is also a children’s playground and a tearoom on site as well. In July Bestival is held in the grounds, it attracts music lovers from all over to this family fun 4 day event.

Durdle Door

Durdle Door is a natural limestone arch on the Jurassic Coast near Lulworth with a shingle beach. It can be reached via a steep coastal path from Lulworth Cove or from Durdle Door car park, its worth the walk! The coastline has an international geological importance and is part of a family of natural wonders including the Grand Canyon and the Great Barrier Reef!

Lulworth Cove

Lulworth Cove is located along the Natural World Heritage Coastline and is wonderful for a family outing whether for a visit to the West Lulworth Heritage Centre, a leisurely walk, a swim in the Cove or lunch in a café/restaurant. Lulworth Cove has a beautiful white pebble beach and lovely calm blue waters. A short walk from the cove along the South West Path brings you to the Man O' War beach and Durdle Door.
