Swanage

Swanage is a traditional coastal town that has so much to offer and there is no better choice in Dorset for a seaside holiday. With it’s award winning, safe and sandy beach, sports and leisure activities and a wealth of attractions to suit all ages. You will be spoilt for choice with it’s selection of award winning fish and chip shops, welcoming public houses, excellent restaurants and cafes, all offering a superb choice of local food and drinks. This attractive town has an interesting collection of individual shops, gift shops, supermarkets and art galleries. Swanage has a great history too.

Throughout the year there is a wide range of events that will appeal to the whole family. There is Swanage Regatta and Carnival, offering a range of activities and spectacular firework displays. The Purbeck Arts Week is very popular and for music lovers there is a choice of Jazz, Folk and Blues Festivals when live music is played at various venues throughout the town, not forgetting the more recent and less musical additions such as Swanage Fish Festival and Pirate Festival! Also, worth a mention is the Swanage Comedy Festival, Swanage and Purbeck Walking Festival and for all of you running enthusiasts, the gruelling Purbeck Marathon!

The town also offers attractions such as the Mowlem Theatre located on the sea front showing a good selection of plays, shows and films throughout the year. The Swanage Steam Railway travels through six miles of beautiful scenery (some you may recognise from the recent film Dunkirk) passing though Harmans Cross and then on to the magnificent ruins of Corfe Castle and village. The Railway also hosts regular events such as Steam and Diesel Engine Galas, evening dining, Sunday lunches and the ever-popular Santa Special!
